Welcome to Ocean Blue Adventures

Whale & Dolphin boat-based ocean encounters:
Situated in the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, Ocean Blue offers a rare and powerful experience through permitted boat based whale & dolphin encounters. From a deep sea adventure or an "at one with the ocean" kayaking tour. All tours are guided with expert crew and tour operators who are internationally qualified. Ocean Blue is a licensed SABBWWA permit holder, which enables us to approach whales from 50 metres instead of 300 metres. Should the whales approach our vessel we do not have to move away. The guests therefore get an up close experience with these majestic mammals in the bay.

Sea Kayaking:
Kayak with an experienced guide from Central Beach to Robberg Nature Reserve. This is an amazing experience and often you will kayak with dolphins right next to you. When you reach Robberg Nature Reserve you will kayak amongst the seals at the seal colony. Your guide will introduce you to Robberg Nature Reserve and our wonderful marine life in the bay. In whale season you will encounter these majestic mammals on your tour. All equipment is provided and beginners are welcome.

SAFEST TOWNSHIP IN SOUTH AFRICA
Ocean Blue Adventures and the Qolweni Community Development Trust offer guests a unique experience through the heart of the Qolweni Community settlement surrounded by breathtaking views of the Tsitsikamma Mountains.

CULTURAL TOWNSHIP TOUR
Experience an African way of life by exploring the everyday life of a real African; with a guided tour you are able to explore interesting facts about the Xhosa history and Tribal culture. Meet the local children at the crèche and be entertained by their beautiful voices in song. See where the locals buy their everyday essentials while understanding the life of the local rastars as you tour their homes. On request you can be entertained by the Umthombo Theatre Group performing traditional dances and listening to the exceptional choir singing their favorite songs.

Carbon Neutral:
Ocean Blue proudly launched their fourth project Planet Green Ocean Blue. Ocean Blue has become Carbon Neutral and for every person stepping onto one of our boats we have compensated for their Carbon emissions for the duration of their trip. We welcome the opening of our education centre that allows all guests the opportunity to interact not only with Whales, Dolphins and Seals but also their own conscience of making choices that affects not only them but the entire planet.

What you can do
Reduce your emissions, as much as you can, plant trees, as many as you can, then relax……

How can we help you?
Work out your Carbon Footprint on www.orcafoundation.com with our easy to use Carbon Calculator (GHG Reporting Protocol) and determine how many trees need to be planted to offset your Carbon Emissions. Thereafter either plant your own trees or we will plant them for you

ORCA Foundation
Have you heard about our volunteer program? We offer an expert volunteer program from activities throughout to accommodation and a once in a lifetime chance to learn more about the precious ocean. All activities that students get involved in will be in line with the mission and objectives of the ORCA Foundation, including current research activities at the time of the course. Students will be working under the supervision of expert guides and/or Masters Students from Rhodes University. Programme length: 4 - 8 weeks
